Pastor Frequently Asked Question
What is the Midwest Prayer Center?
Wind and Fire Ministries (WFM) began in 2002, operating out of a regional public prayer room in Hiawatha, IA. After leaving that facility in 2002, we started progressing toward a new public prayer facility that would afford us the ability to move toward our 24/7 mandate of prayer and worship. The Midwest Prayer Center facility was completed in the Spring of 2007- Praise the Lord! All FIELD classes will be held in the new building in classrooms that are located in the back.
Is it a church?
Not at all, in fact, if you don't have a home church, YOU NEED TO GO FIND ONE! But you won't find one here now, nor will you find one here in the future. This is a place designed for prayer and worship to help facilitate prayer efforts within the churches of this region. We don't accept tithe from people who attend WFM or The FIELD activities.
Does this take away from what my church is already doing?
Think of The FIELD and WFM as a restaurant. People from many churches can come to the same restaurant for food. So people can come from many different churches and spend time here praying, learning, and worshipping when their church doesn't have organized services.
What theology is taught?
The leadership of WFM and The FIELD has established theological guidelines for the instructors and worship leaders to stay within while ministering. You can review all of these online under Statements of Faith . You will find the focus being upon Jesus and a deep intimate relationship with him as our Savior.
Is this sponsored or affiliated by any one church?
No! WFM is a non-profit parachurch outreach organization governed by an independent board of directors. It has been the desire of the WFM staff to establish the Midwest Prayer Center. It is also our desire to assist it through the development process and raise regionally based leadership. It is entirely personally funded by WFM staff with the exception of personal donations and gifts from individuals around the area who share a passion for prayer. We have a vision and a God-given mandate to build up the body of Christ in this region. We are reaching across denominational divisions with a vision for reconciliation and unity in Christlikeness.
Do people tithe to Wind and Fire Ministries or The FIELD?
We don't accept tithe. Should someone desire to assist by the giving of a gift, there is a donation box available at the ministry headquarters or WFM can receive donations online. We do not solicit the churches for giving or support. The FIELD SEC will charge tuition fees for courses taken, but will not take up offerings or accept tithes from students or instructors.
Are there other Prayer Centers like this one?
Yes, in fact there are many, and the numbers are growing. There are over a dozen in the United States and several internationally.
Are you affiliated with the other Houses of Prayer?
This Midwest Prayer Center is not directly affiliated with most other 24/7 Houses of Prayer, other than the fact we are all about a deep personal relationship with Jesus assisted through the merging of prayer and worship. WFM has taken great effort to examine other houses of prayer and prayer centers around the United States. We have gleaned the facets that WFM leadership felt would be of great benefit here in our region. Many things may resemble the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, and other things may resemble the World Prayer Center in Colorado Springs. We are also part of the National Association of Church Prayer Leaders (NALCPL).
What is your goal?
Our goal would be to see several people from many churches begin to get even more passionate about prayer and begin even more prayer times WITHIN their own church. We desire to be part of the stirring up and rekindling of a Worldwide prayer movement, bringing hearts passionately back to Jesus.
I Don't Believe you!
Yeah we know. In a lot of ways, it would have been easier to try and raise up an adult bookstore in this community than it has been raising up a 24/7 place to worship Jesus. You don't just wake up one day and decide to build a night and day prayer center, so we understand the logic challenges. Time will help convince people and their pastors, that we are serious about facilitating prayer and worship, and in doing so we will all together see peoples lives changed in our communities.
What if I have more Questions?
That's fine, and we want you to be comfortable with what we are doing. ASK AWAY!! Call (319) 294-5307 or send an email info@thefieldsec.org
